The Burrito Baby Weighs In...

Chris had Stellarella on the scale today and she is over 19 lbs! We are excited to take her in to the doc in a week to get her measurements. The baby looks more like a little girl every day.

Stella is developing her palate with some new foods. She loves pears, and had banana for the first time today. She gobbles down fruits, and makes the most dramatic gagging noise when I try to give her sweet potatoes. We'll be introducing peas in a few days as well. I am enjoying my new baby food culinary duties, and have created a stockpile of ice-cub sized portions!

Stella is now sitting unsupported for a few minutes at a time, and has increased her repertoire of sounds. Lately, she has started growling (I think she gets this from her cousin Eric), saying lub-lub-lub, and making raspberry noises on her chubby popeye arms. She is refining her grasp and has transferred objects from one hand to another.

We've taken a few nice walks in our jogging stroller, and are looking forward to the new Spring weather. Also, Chris booked our England trip and Stella will be crossing the pond on 7/23 to meet her relatives. I'm a little nervous about all of the accouterments necessary for baby care and am already thinking about packing!

Mall Rats

We got portraits done at the mall today (so that would be Baby's first mall). Here are a few of the faves.. They are wicked cute, and she smiled and smiled. It was also the first time she sat up unsupported. I was pleasantly surprised!

The Week of Firsts

Lots of developments for Stellski since the last entry- She is eating her toes all day, she had her first day at school when she came in to visit my colleagues, her first public bathroom, her first starbucks (she watched, and is anxious for her first espresso), and our first sleep-away trip!

We went up to Lake Geneva this weekend to stay with Mikey, Sheri, and Frankie at their vacation house. They brought their two rambunctious dogs and Stella smiled and laughed at them the whole trip; she adores dogs. We had a great time, although we had to load the car with a ton of gear to survive the night. Stella slept great away from home, and it was good practice for future endeavors.

Stella's now likes to stick out her tongue and make an "I forgot my dentures face," and will mimic us when we do the same. Lots of fun.

My momentous moment this week- I changed the baby on a changing table in a public restroom! I had dreaded this impending event and knew it was only a matter of time until I gave to suck it up and walk through the door. We were out in Lake Geneva on the town and I had to use a Houlihan's bathroom. For those who know me well, I have a public restroom phobia, and I don't even sit at my mother's house. As she lay on the table, Stella reached and touched all kinds of surfaces and I had to bat her fingers away from her mouth while I changed her. I washed her up to the elbows, and we survived. Phew!
